SR. ACCOUNT DIRECTOR – Email

Position Summary:

The Sr. Account Director is responsible for all aspects of leading and ultimately growing an established, large email marketing focused commercial account.  Specifically, establish a solid partnership with the lead client by providing high-level thought leadership on existing programs, industry expertise, and overall efficient account management.

The account is 90 % focused on email marketing retention and acquisition.  Candidate must have strategic and tactical experience in delivering results to meet email retention goals, acquiring new email addresses through external sources and existing consumer touch points, and converting current customers to online customer service offerings.

Internally, the Sr. Account Director is responsible for efficiently and effectively managing a core account team and collaborating with shared resources such as Strategic, Creative and Technology leads to continually provide innovative thinking on behalf of the client.

Position Responsibilities: Establish working partnership with main client lead

  • Meet or exceed email marketing retention and acquisition goals
  • Lead bi-monthly strategic client meetings and quarterly business reviews
  • Interpret and lead client discussions on results and results trending
  • Drive business by ensuring key program goals are met
  • Provide industry thought leadership
  • Identify and bring to fruition new business opportunities within the account
  • Ultimately responsible for on time, on strategy, accurate program execution
  • Effectively leading and motivating internal team to produce best in class work
  • Provide mentoring and career growth coaching to individual team members.
  • Maintaining collaborative, energized internal team dynamic
  • Establishing and maintaining account profitably.

Travel Requirements:

  • Potentially based in New York City
  • 25%-40% travel


Position Qualifications:

  • 10-15 years of client services/account management in a direct marketing agency or a combination of agency/client side.  Client side experience must include a leadership role.
  • Extensive experience in driving an email program from a retention and acquisition perspective
  • 5+ years email marketing experience a must
  • Analytically minded, specifically comfortable with data, response metrics and trends
  • Proven strategic leadership
  • Strong understanding of database marketing technologies
  • Must thrive on building highly effective teams; posses strong people management skills
  • Bachelor’s degree.  Graduate degree such as MBA/Marketing/Business highly desirable.
  • Solid understanding of email execution process including technology
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Ability to manage client relationships, especially sensitive issues and effectively problem solve.
  • Ability to analyze problems and produce a viable solution
  • Ability to multi-task and work well in a fast changing environment
