Job Description:
The primary responsibilities for the Online Media Planner/Buyer will include online strategy development, plan implementation, and optimization. This position requires a results-driven individual, who has demonstrated success with online media campaigns. He/she understands current and innovative benchmarks for measuring online campaign effectiveness and can work with National Media Manager to develop effective tracking objectives, criteria, and benchmarks. The Online Media Planner/Buyer can drive campaigns and produce campaign performance reports with strategic optimization recommendations.
This position will work closely with all the other teams within the National Marketing Department to integrate online media plans with advertising strategy and the broader communications mix. The Online Media Planner/Buyer’s range of responsibilities will include playing an integral part in goal and objective-setting marketing programs to interactive reporting/analysis.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
· Aids in the creation of online media objectives and strategies; integrates interactive media with offline advertising and marketing programs
· Writes online media plan recommendations and point-of-views across a wide array of opportunities
· Develops buying strategies for maximizing media dollars, and handles media RFPs and negotiations
· Manages, analyzes and optimizes media placements for maximum ROI on day-to-day basis; including re-negotiating programs; canceling or renewing as necessary
· Provides department management with regular updates and reports on campaign performance; rationale, recommendations, and results projections
· Administers SEM campaign management; including working with marketing team and search agency during keyword development/conception, developing text ads, bid management, optimization and campaign analysis
· Utilizes SEM methodologies and best practices to increase profits associated with all SEM online media
· Understands various tracking services and can build campaigns, traffic and track them for reporting purposes using 3rd party tools (MediaPlex Salesforce.com and Ominture a plus)
· Accountable for financial reporting process; creates and manages media flowcharts, monthly budget reports, authorizations, IOs and reconciliation
· Fields incoming proposals/phone calls for various clients and maintains strong relationships with vendors
· Assists in online creative concept development and project management; works with cross-team on landing page / experience optimization
· Analyzes interactive marketing data and information
· Monitors new trends in online media, social media and mobile and assists in the strategic and creative development of new online ideas
· Assists with traditional media buying as needed and to ensure campaign goals are being fully met and supported via traditional and online media plans
· Assists in training and mentoring of Marketing Assistant/Intern or other traditional media team members
Job Qualifications:
· 5-7 years of online media planning/buying experience; including experience in all aspects of the process, e.g. planning, buying, negotiating, contracts, trafficking, campaign set-up and management, tracking and reporting, budget and billing (financial) management
· Experience with campaign management/ad serving technology, e.g., MediaPlex, Google AdWords
· Proven experience with SEM campaign management
· Strong attention to detail and thorough follow through
· Experience analyzing data and market research
· Strong written, verbal communication and negotiation skills
· Project management skills
· Proven ability to accommodate evolving responsibilities and last minute changes
